Lesson Notes:
- Balance is not a place but an ability.
- Balance is the ability to maintain your axis, within your base of support, with minimal postural sway.
- Large compensatory movements get in the way of you keeping good balance.
- Your axis runs vertically through your body. It runs from the crown of your head to the bottom of your foot.
- You have achieved good balance when you can maintain your axis without moving too much or creating unnecessary tension.
- When vertical you axis allows you to stand upright, rotate effortlessly, and pivot smoothly.
